SEXUAL ASSAULT

It's the month of sexual assault awareness. In the spirit of the awareness, let's talk about rape.
When I say there's a rape case, what comes to the minds of most people is that the victim is a girl. Girls are more fragile after all so it's easier for them to be victims of a rape case. Let's bring to light the fact that boys can be raped too. These cases are a bit rare, but they do happen. I know you must be wondering how can a guy be raped. Let's ask ourselves, what is rape.
Rape according to Merriam Webster dictionary, is an unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against a person's will or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception. Any sexual activity against a person's will is called rape. In male cases, it occurs mostly with underaged boys, where they are forced to have sexual contact with an older person.
Rape generally has adverse effects on the victim, be it a boy or a girl. Rape may cause satyriasis in men or nymphomania in women. Asides that, it affects the mental health of the person, causes trauma and lots more.
Rape is just one of the many types of sexual assault. Sexual assault  involves illegal sexual contact (that usually involves force) upon a person without his or her consent. So if a person touches you sexually, without your consent, then it is sexual assault. You should know that you have every right to take action. The number of rapists roaming free in the society is alarming and we all should do what we can to stop it.
